The Gaze of the Superior
photography, variable size, and never exhibited. 1997
Photo-arrangement inspired by craniometry, the pseudoscientific fashion of measuring and comparing human heads with a so called ideal standard of proportions. The ancient greek heads and the use of old engineering tools points to how racist notions of purity and beauty is connected to the claims of objective science . The chilean artist Juan Brito Vargas lent his head to the project.
