BOOM! Evil is gone

2002
Wall and floor installation.
Handwoven carpet. Size 1.5 x 1.5 metres.

An “oriental” carpet cut into the shape of a cartoon explosion. The design cut in a hard-edge manner contrasting both the texture of the hand-made textile and the organic rhythm of its patterns.
The carpet represents cultural tradition, the civil community and women’s craft-work. The logo-like shape represents both the aesthetization and the entertainment-like news broadcasts that covered the events leading up to the Iraq-war (2003-2010).
